WMT Update

Four months on from my last email and sadly this update doesn’t bring much change!  I had hoped by now that things would be more settled and we could look forward to some live theatre from WMT by the end of the year. But I fear not!

We are on now on stage 4 of the governments road map for bringing live performances safely back in England. This allows indoor live performances with social distancing for audience and performers

There is no fixed date for the return of full indoor live performances (stage 5) and as Oliver Dowden, the Culture Secretary stated he will not consider a date for this until November at the earliest.

So I’m afraid we will not be presenting A Child’s Christmas in Wales later in the year. It is an intimate piece of physical theatre which won’t work with social distancing for actors or audience, and then there’s the singing!  It will now be in November /December 2021

The postponed The Merry Wives of Windsor is still scheduled for July 2021.

The Panto, Sleeping Beauty which was to be performed in February 2021 with rehearsals from October will now also be ‘bumped’ on a year.

So not a cheering update I’m afraid, but we will all be raring to go in the new year, so roll on 2021!

Stay sane!
