Blithe Spirit – Meet the cast – Edith ( Esme Wayland Pratt )
This is Esme’s fourth production with West Meon Theatre, and she is delighted to be playing Edith in Blithe Spirit.
At 17, Esme is currently studying acting alongside her A levels, so taking on Coward’s wonderfully chaotic maid has been a brilliant opportunity to put some of that training into practice. Edith may not always be the sharpest person in the room, but she makes up for it with enthusiasm, speed, confusion and a magnificent ability to arrive at exactly the wrong moment.
Esme is really enjoying exploring Edith’s comic timing, physical energy and glorious lack of polish — and perhaps adding just a little bit of “yoof” to the part along the way.
